A Little About Me

Currently:

I’m currently working in New York City as a Fashion Publicist for some great brands.  Honing my skills and just trying to stay afloat in a city that eats some alive.

Know the kid:

I’m a chameleon by nature and have learned to adapt quickly to new and challenging work environments. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to travel all around the world and meet a wealth of diverse and fascinating people. From these experiences a common component emerged, fashion! Fashion is a universal language and public relations is an invisible thread tying most elements of life together.

In graduate school I gained experience conducting qualitative research, utilizing social media for business, building strategic plans for clients, utilizing storytelling for clients, conducting media monitoring, writing press releases, and creating a recruitment plan amongst other competencies. I’m currently looking to change my academic experience into practice while continuing to develop my PR skills and knowledge.

Building upon the skills I’ve developed growing up and in academia, I’m chasing the fast pace and ever-evolving nature of the fashion industry.  I will be using this blog to hone my skills and explore trends in the industry.

About the Blog:

How do fashion brands make it big? How can public relations power be harnessed to build relationships in the fashion industry? My Fashion and PR musings page will be taking a behind the scenes look at the world of fashion through the eyes of an aspiring fashion publicist.  Join me as I explore budding brands and the PR tactics and initiatives that make these brands successful.

During the summer of 2013 my interests took me across the pond to London as part of a Global Advertising and Public Relations master’s course. My adventures in London conducting a comparative research study on fashion PR practices stateside and abroad can also be found on this blog!
